Major Taylor – Middle Georgia Youth Group

Major Taylor Middle Georgia is the first and currently the only youth chapter of Major Taylor in the world. We strive every day to honor this great cyclist with our deeds and skills. We are honoring history by adding more chapters to the book of cycling for people of color.

String Studios

String Studios is the group developing all the original cycling jerseys worn by the Major Taylor Cycling Club of Columbus, Ohio. String creates reimagined designs following the same ideas created 40 years ago. Wear what the founders wore and sign up to learn when new kits are developed.

The Bronzeville Trail Task Force

The Major Taylor Initiative was established by the Bronzeville Trail Task Force, Inc., based in Chicago, to advocate for the recognition of Marshall W. “Major” Taylor. Major Taylor was an African American professional cyclist. Taylor may be the greatest American sprinter of all time. He became the first African American to become the cycling champion of the world and earned the title of the “world’s fastest man.”

We want Major Taylor to be recognized in the annals of history and the pantheon of great African-Americans who had excelled in a sport. We want him to be mentioned in the same breath as Jackie Robinson, as Michael Jordan, and he lived here in Chicago, died in Chicago.

The Ironman Foundation

The IRONMAN Foundation® today announced partnerships with Major Taylor Cycling Club, Black Runners Connection, and Black Kids Swim to build awareness and expand outreach in support of its Race For Change® diversity initiative. The IRONMAN Foundation and the three affinity sports clubs will implement programming to address potential participation barriers that might prevent Black and other diverse athlete groups from competing in triathlons.
